The Harder They Come

In a Kingston neighbourhood that wakes to the rhythm of brooms, crates and hammers, Ivan, a young singer from the Jamaican countryside, arrives determined to become a star. He falls for Elsa, the ward of a preacher, and lands a record deal with Hilton, a producer who soon shows him the music business is rigged. Swindled and unable to find honest work, Ivan refuses to be exploited, and his defiance pulls him outside the law.
