A Midsummer Night's Dream

In the years just after the Second World War, as Athens readies itself for a royal wedding, two pairs of young lovers slip away into the woods, where a group of local amateur actors are rehearsing a play for the celebrations. The forest belongs to the fairies, and their king Oberon, at war with his queen Titania, sends Puck out with a love potion that leaves the lovers chasing the wrong partners and the queen besotted with a weaver wearing an ass's head.
