In a sleek, book-lined home, where a record player sits among the mementoes, Daniel and Mitchell host dinner for Mitchell's agent Barry and his much younger boyfriend Trip. Over the wine, an old argument resurfaces: Daniel wants a wedding, while Mitchell, a novelist, insists two men in love need not copy a straight tradition. Then a sudden crisis strikes, Daniel's mother Lydia arrives, and the question stops being a dinner-party debate.
