The Frogs

Stephen Sondheim and Burt Shevelove's The Frogs is a satirical musical freely adapted from Aristophanes, in which Dionysos, the god of drama, grows dismayed by the state of the world and sets off for the Underworld with his servant Xanthias in search of a great writer who can help restore hope through art. Their journey is packed with mythological characters, brisk comic exchanges and pointed jokes about theatre, culture and civilisation.
