Abigail's Party

Abigail's Party is Mike Leigh's satirical play, first performed in 1977, set during a suburban cocktail party in the living room of Beverly and Laurence. As the evening unfolds, their neighbours’ uneasy conversation and the hosts’ social performance reveal clashing tastes, hidden tensions and the brittle aspirations of 1970s British middle-class life.
