Las Canciones

Las canciones is a Spanish-language play written and directed by Pablo Messiez, built from characters and situations in Anton Chekhov's plays, notably Three Sisters and Ivanov. A group of people gather to listen to music together, from Jacques Brel and Édith Piaf to Lola Flores and ABBA, and what begins as a harmless act of listening and singing along slowly transforms them all. Threaded with grief and memory, it is a piece about the act of listening and the music hidden in everyday speech.
