Emilia

Inspired by the life of 17th-century poet Emilia Bassano, Emilia imagines a woman determined to make her writing heard in a literary world dominated by men. Three performers share the title role as the play explores her encounters with Shakespeare’s world and the speculation that she inspired his ‘Dark Lady’ sonnets.
