Sunday in the Park with George

Sunday in the Park with George is Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's musical meditation on art, obsession and legacy, inspired by Georges Seurat's painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. The first act follows George, a fictionalised Seurat, as he becomes absorbed in the creation of his masterpiece, even as his dedication strains his relationship with Dot and the world around him.
