Chewing Gum Dreams

Fourteen-year-old Tracey Gordon is growing up fast in east London. Bored by lessons and wide awake to everything else, she is piecing together what she knows about friendship, sex, money and God from the 67 bus, the school corridor and whatever her mates tell her. Her best friend Candice, Candice's boyfriend Aaron and a gallery of classmates and teachers crowd her days, and almost everyone around her seems to expect very little of a girl like her.
