The Bartered Bride

A comic opera set in a Czech village, The Bartered Bride follows a young couple whose love is entangled in a marriage broker's schemes and a promised betrothal. As the plot twists through misdirection, bargaining, and mistaken expectations, the piece draws its energy from folk-inflected melody, brisk comedy, and lively ensemble writing.
