Dessa Rose

Dessa Rose is a sung-through musical set in the antebellum South, following an unlikely bond between Dessa, a young enslaved woman, and Ruth, an isolated white woman. Framed as an oral history that they pass down to their descendants, the story explores how two women from very different worlds are drawn together by necessity and shared vulnerability.
