Aida

Aida is a musical by Elton John and Tim Rice, based on Giuseppe Verdi's opera and set in ancient Egypt and Nubia. It centres on a love triangle between Aida, a Nubian princess enslaved in Egypt; Radames, an ambitious Egyptian soldier; and Amneris, the Egyptian princess to whom Radames is engaged. As their loyalties are tested, the story moves between private desire and public duty, with music drawing on styles including reggae, Motown, gospel and African rhythms. The original Broadway production premiered in 2000 and went on to win multiple Tony Awards.
