Bye Bye Birdie is a musical comedy set in 1958, when rock star Conrad Birdie, loosely based on Elvis Presley, is drafted into the U.S. Army. To turn the loss of their biggest client into a publicity opportunity, songwriter and agent Albert Peterson and his secretary, Rosie Alvarez, arrange for Birdie to make one last television appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, with a farewell kiss from a fan in Sweet Apple, Ohio.
