Rent

Bare brick walls become a Manhattan apartment where, by candlelight, filmmaker Mark Cohen points his camera at the friends around him: his roommate Roger, a songwriter living with HIV who has shut himself away, Mimi, the dancer from downstairs, the philosopher Collins and the street drummer Angel, and Mark's ex Maureen with her new girlfriend Joanne. Over one year in the East Village they fight eviction, illness and their own fear of loving.
