An Inspector Calls

Raised on stilts above a rain-soaked, rubble-strewn street, the Birlings' grand house sits like a doll's house, its comforts sealed off from the world outside. Inside, the prosperous Arthur Birling, his wife Sybil and their children Sheila and Eric are toasting Sheila's engagement to Gerald Croft when Inspector Goole arrives to ask about the death of a young working-class woman. As he draws out each person's story, their comfortable certainties begin to crack.
