Akhnaten

Philip Glass’s Akhnaten is an operatic portrait of the Egyptian pharaoh whose short, radical reign transformed both religion and politics. Set in ancient Egypt, the work follows Akhenaten as he turns away from traditional worship and attempts to build a new order around the sun god Aten, with the court, the priesthood and the royal household caught up in the upheaval.
