I, Daniel Blake

Dan, a Newcastle carpenter recovering from a heart attack, finds himself caught in the machinery of the benefits system: work capability assessments, appeals and sanctions. At the jobcentre he meets Katie, a single mother newly arrived from London, and the two strike up a friendship as they face poverty, food banks and a system that seems built to wear them down.
