On a stripped-back stage in a Victorian music hall in east London, ten performers conjure the nightclubs and magazine offices of eighties Manhattan around one young man in freefall. Jamie wanted to write fiction; now he checks other people's facts, his model wife Amanda has gone, and his friend Tad Allagash keeps steering him towards another night of cocaine. As the week wears on, a tabloid story about a baby in a coma and his brother's calls drag him back towards the loss he keeps trying to escape.
