The History Boys is Alan Bennett's 2004 play, first staged at the National Theatre in London, set in a boys' grammar school in Sheffield in the 1980s. It follows a sixth-form class as they are coached for Oxbridge entrance examinations by two very different teachers: the irreverent Hector and the sharp, pragmatic newcomer Irwin.
