Music & Lyrics Andrew Barret Cox·Book Mark Mauriello
Oscar at the Crown is an immersive dance-party musical with a concept and book by Mark Mauriello and an electropop score, music and lyrics, by Andrew Barret Cox. In a fascist future where little survives except sequins, reality television and the complete works of Oscar Wilde, a group of outcasts hides in an underground nightclub bunker, The Crown. There they worship Wilde by performing the rise and fall of his life, with his wife Constance and his lover Lord Alfred 'Bosie' Douglas. Most of the audience stands and dances as the action unfolds around them. Created by the queer collective The Neon Coven, it premiered at 3 Dollar Bill in Brooklyn in 2019, and played the Edinburgh Fringe in 2023.
