The Band's Visit

The Alexandria Ceremonial Police Orchestra, a small Egyptian band, travels to Israel to play at the opening of an Arab cultural centre. A mix-up at the bus station sends the musicians not to the city of Petah Tikva but to Bet Hatikva, a sleepy town in the middle of the desert. With no bus until morning and no hotel, they are taken in for the night by Dina, who runs the local café, and a handful of townspeople, and strangers with little in common and barely a shared language spend one long evening together.
