Redwood

Redwood is a musical with a book by Tina Landau, music by Kate Diaz and lyrics by Diaz and Landau, inspired in part by the life of the environmental activist Julia Butterfly Hill. Jesse, a successful businesswoman, is shattered when her son dies of an accidental fentanyl overdose. Leaving her wife and her career behind, she drives across the United States to the redwood forests of Northern California, where two arborists, Finn and Becca, and one ancient tree set her on an unlikely path through grief towards healing.
