Book Anton Chekhov, in a version by Conor McPherson
Lyubov Ranevskaya comes home from years in Paris to the family estate, its famous cherry orchard white with blossom and its finances in ruins. The house is to be sold at auction unless something is done, and Lopakhin, a self-made businessman whose father was a serf on the estate, has a plan to save it that would mean cutting down the orchard. Ranevskaya, her brother Gaev and the rest of the household cling to the past as the day of the sale draws closer.
