Lohengrin

In a bombed-out city worn down by a long war, the people of Brabant wait for someone to lead them. Elsa, accused by the nobleman Telramund of murdering her young brother, is brought up from an underground cell to face the king's judgment. A stranger in a white suit steps forward to fight for her, on one condition: she must never ask his name or where he comes from. Telramund's wife Ortrud sets out to plant that question in her mind.
