The Oresteia

The Middletons are well-to-do and quietly falling apart. Christopher works in military technology and is caught up in a morally questionable business with his crass brother Melville; his American wife Montie is throwing a joint twenty-first birthday party for their daughters, Alice, a teacher drifting through adulthood, and Isabel, an activist who is out protesting instead. Their younger son Augie covers for her, but debts, disturbing visions and old resentments are gathering in the house, and the shadow of an unjust war hangs over them all.
