Candide

Based on Voltaire's satirical novella, Candide follows an innocent young man whose faith in optimism is tested by a series of disasters, reversals and improbable escapes. As he is swept from one country to another, the story takes in war, politics, romance and human folly, all with a brisk comic edge.
