In a bare room surrounded by an apparently devastated world, Hamm sits blind and unable to leave his chair. He depends on Clov, his servant, who cannot sit and longs to go. Hamm’s elderly parents, Nagg and Nell, live in bins nearby. Their routines and barbed exchanges circle around the question of whether anything is about to end.
