Pre-Existing Condition

A, a woman who has escaped a violent relationship, is trying to rebuild an ordinary life. Much of her time is spent in a drab community-centre room where a support group meets, and the rest in phone calls with her mother, a meeting with a lawyer and a hesitant first date, each with its own small humiliations. The danger may be over, but its effects are not, and A has to work out what moving forward actually looks like.
