Cynthia Erivo is officially an MBE — invested by Prince William at Windsor Castle for her services to music and drama.
The Wicked star was formally honoured on 19 May 2026 in a ceremony at Windsor Castle, wearing Givenchy by Sarah Burton. She was first named on King Charles's 2026 New Year Honours List back in January, alongside Idris Elba, Ellie Goulding, Meera Syal and Matt Lucas.
Erivo's stage career stretches from the National Theatre and the West End to Broadway, where her performance in The Color Purple won her the Tony, Grammy and Emmy. She is now one of the most decorated theatre actors of her generation — and a film Oscar would complete the EGOT.
"An honour I could never have thought would happen," Erivo said after the ceremony. "I hope it shows that I care deeply about the work."
