One Fiyero, two continents — Carl Man takes the role from London to Broadway.
The Margate-born actor is now the first performer to play Fiyero on both Broadway and the West End, stepping onto the Gershwin Theatre stage after his run in the London production. He's also the first Fiyero of Asian descent.
Wicked has played the Gershwin since October 2003, with Stephen Schwartz's score and Winnie Holzman's book — based on Gregory Maguire's novel — turning the show into one of Broadway's all-time top-grossing musicals. Fiyero is Elphaba's love interest, the prince who reappears in Act II transformed into the Scarecrow.
Man's professional debut was the title role in Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular at Disney California Adventure. He takes the reins as Wicked enters its 23rd year on Broadway.
